I disagree. Pilate had the authority to stop the crucifixion and he couldn’t even tell what Truth was. Secondly, no man will ever enter heaven for being a “Good Person”. Simply one sin makes us a sinful person covered in filth in the eyes of God. Faith in God is the only thing that saves people, in the New and Old Testament.

Are you aware that the centurion was a Roman for whom Jesus performed a miracle?

Which makes my point. The Roman's weren't kept from choosing to hear on their own or accept Jesus. But they weren't taught but the apostles or by Jesus. Like the other gentile groups, they were excluded until after Jesus was crucified.

But when they were specifically taught, the accepted the Lord in full measure.

Pilate’s wife Clodia was one of the early Christians. I think it is believed Pilate was saved as well, but I’m not entirely sure about that.

I'd like to think he was forgiven. My wife and I were discussing this the other day. Our question was, what was He supposed to do in the political environment in which he lived?

I know that Jesus will judge Him with a perfect judgement, that is without bias or malice.

I'm not sure about Judas, but I'll never pass judgement on him. It's not my place. But when the Roman's came for Jesus, Judas consciously made the choice to betray the Savior. And he knew exactly who Jesus was... The Roman's would have found Jesus no matter what. I mean they could have just asked, Jesus wasn't hiding and this was planned from the beginning. If they were having trouble finding Him, Jesus would have gone to them.

But Judas was paid money for his betrayal. It's different for someone that does something in complete ignorance and those that are doing so knowing full well what they are doing.

Honestly his situation makes me sad.

Ahem! Jews appealed to Pilate to punish Jesus but it was the Romans that crucified Jesus; albeit Pilate argued for Jesus to be spared execution.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't the first time the Jews had been introduced to the Romans.

John 19
6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

It was the Jews that demanded that Pilate crucify Jesus. Pilate tried to release Jesus, but the Jews demanded it because of the law.

Notice also that in John 19, when the Jews told Pilate that Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, Pilate became afraid and tried to have Jesus released.

7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

8 ¶ When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

Then Pilate went to Jesus and asked, who are you? Then Jesus says something pretty amazing:

John 19
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

God is giving you the power to crucify me, because the Jews delivered me to you, they are to blame. In other words, Jesus is reassuring Pilate that he won't blamed for this.

12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him:

Like I said, if Pilate realized who Jesus was He wouldn't crucify Him. Pilate tried not to crucify Him.

14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

Honestly, I don't think this was sarcasm. I think Pilate figured it out. Because then Pilate says to the Jews:

15 ...Shall I crucify your King?

The Jews yelled at Pilate:

15 ...The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cæsar.

I think Pilate's real sin was to some degree the same as Peter's when he denied Christ three times. But Peter repented and I think Pilate could too.

Exactly. Thus the choosing of Paul to go to the Gentiles (most likely, most FReepers). JESUS called him to apostleship, boggles the mind how many want to put themselves back with the Jews and ignore the “exceeding great revelations” given to Paul on our behalf. His ministry did include an appeal to his “kinsmen in the flesh”, but by the time his later prison letters were written it was “one new man out of the two”. No more dividing wall. No more “to the Jew first”. Heavenly things.

When the other desciples asked who would betray Him Jesus said "The one who dips his bread when I dip mine". Judas didn't have to do it. I believe Jesus left it up to Judas because Judas knew he would be condemned for eternity. Another incident is when Jesus said "You betray the son of man with a kiss." I believe it was Jesus acknowledging Judas' love for Him. All of this was foretold. Judas was the treasurer of the group. That's why he was chosen to do the deed. It would only make sense that he would be the one to be paid. I've believed this way since I was 5 years old. Every Easter I would hear the story and think "Why are they hating Pilate and Judas? Peter denied Jesus 3 times but they​ praise him. What he did was just as bad as what Judas did. And they would teach that if you denied God you'd go to hell. When I became an adult I stopped arguing about it and decided I'll just look Pilate and Judas up once I get there. If I'm fortunate enough to get the chance.

After he betrayed Christ who did he go to as he thought of his deed? Did he go to Jesus for forgiveness? NO. He seeks absolution from the same people who’s goal was to have Christ crucified.

He betrayed Jesus with a kiss. He betrayed him for money. Show me from the BIble where he repented of his sin before the ONE who could forgive his sin.

Why did he commit suicide? He was trying to escape his guilt.

Nice try but doesn't pass the smell test. He was sent to the House of Israel because they were the Chosen Ones. They were the ones God set separate for them to keep His Laws and recorded history. They were to evangelize the world. Ruy is right and you . . . not so much.

It was part of the plan of God that Jesus would be born through the linage of David. It was one of the signs that the world was to look for to prove His identity.

He was born at that time because those Jews at that time, were the only people in all the world at any time that would kill their God.

Are you trying to claim that Jesus being crucified was just bad luck on his part?
