Welcome!

To The King James Bible Discussion Thread

Where An Unfulfilled Vocation

Goes Totally Unnoticed

Until Old Age Has Completely Set In.

TOPICS: General Discusssion; Moral Issues
KEYWORDS: kjb; preservedword
Timothy a Christian minister, a man of God who's commanded to "love your enemies, do good to them which hate you," is to act like a Roman soldier. Roman soldiers were very loyal to the Roman state, even when they had to endure postings that were less than hospitable. Legionnaires who were posted on the frontiers of the Roman Empire faced hostile tribes in between long stretches of extreme monotony. We don't often think about it, but Bible-believing Christians are soldiers in a great spiritual war.

2 Corinthians 10:3
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Many Christians have given up the ghost in this war, but even when everyone else falls, guess who remains standing? Jesus Christ, the Word of God has never failed, and will never abandon His troops.

1 Chronicles 28:20
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

Jeremiah 23:1
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

The main reason America has jumped into the abyss of moral depravity is because of apostate ministers who refuse to fight against spiritual wickedness in high places and remain faithful to their Commander and Chief, as well as God's preserved word. Every God-fearing, people-loving, sin-hating preacher should be leading the battles against the barrage of Satan and his One World Order minions.

One of the most powerful weapons this One World God-hating, atheistic evolutionist enemy has, is the lie that God's word is not perfect, not preserved and isn't true. Real Bible believing Christians will never place man's opinion over God's absolute truth and will remain faithful regardless of how vicious the attacks become.

Psalms 107:29
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Psalms 12:6-7
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Actually the legions at this time were not Romans but derived from the Barbarians who repeatedly attacked the Empire.

Nor were they loyal to the Empire. There were repeated seizures of power with armies declaring their general “emperors”. Civil war was almost perpetual during the period after about 200 A.D. Emperors were killed by the Praetorian Guard just so the new one would reward them with money for violating their trust.

Italy was a total mess as the Empire declined and fell. Christians were an afterthought at this period for the most part and were tolerated although there were persecutions under some of the Emperors. The faith continuously grew as the pagan gods became obsolete.

Gibbon vividly paints the violence and upheaval in The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.

I'm going by the scholarly consensus that 2 Timothy was written sometime between A.D 66-67.

But the point of my post is that Christians must remain faithful even in the face of unrelenting enemy attacks, discouragements, trials, tribulations and people who don't believe God has the ability to keep His promises.
