To: Faith Presses On

I’m sorry, but I don’t think people should ask other people what they are hearing from the Lord. I think people should listen to the Lord on their own. Anytime people go to people for what the Lord is saying, they are setting themselves up to be victims.

Well, I understand where you’re coming from, but do believe that there’s a place for both hearing from the Lord oneself, but also hearing from Him through other people, and in particular, pastors. I believe that’s Biblical. There are leaders in the Bible, as well as people who were more mature in the faith, and people who had different gifts. And the Lord can also have very specific purposes for why He speaks through one person at a particular time and place. Having to listen to one another draws us together. But, ultimately, each person must listen to the Lord about what they hear from others, on whether what they are hearing is from Him, or not.
