Back in the early 70s a friend and I got a burden for the teens and slightly older hippie types around our town, and opened “The One Way Coffee House”. Keith Green and others’ music was prominent. Many young people got saved. Several great years.

Your post made me wonder if something like that could even be attempted in this day.

I wonder, too. Both of us were young businessmen, belonged to a Christian Businessmen’s group, CBMC. When we mentioned what we were doing, one older member said he’d write a check for a year’s rent of the building we were using. Others chipped in various things. We got invitations to speak and hold “coffee houses” at a college, at several churches, etc. The college would probably be verboten nowadays. As I said, several hundred young people came to the Lord. One is now a pastor out in Kansas someplace. Another is a translator in Guatemala. Etc., etc. Praise Jesus.

It may be a time for a Keith Green revival among those who fancy themselves the hippies of today, especially leftist hippy types, old and young. I think that he has a special touch that can reach certain coffee house types. He has a free spirit style and his worship music is full of vigor and is infectious. It may be time to open up another coffee shop!

You may be right. Things move in cycles and “fads”, if you will. Maybe God will lay that on the hearts of some young men to do something along those lines. Since I’m on the wrong side of 75, it won’t be me.
