Not to generate a debate over historical dates, but the traditional year for the Crucifixion is A.D. 33.
That makes this year "1984". Considering that the novel is a tale of tyranny and bondage, such that the year has become synonymous with a time of trouble, and that this year began the destruction of the Establishment... perhaps 2017 = 1984 is an example of "there [being] no coincidences in God's Universe".
And on that note, my vote goes to Exodus for your next study, what with the timing and all. :)
