Hypocrisy - [King James Bible Discussion]
Me

A few days ago, after witnessing blatant hypocrisy by certain members of a
particular Caucus in Washington D.C, I decided to start my own Caucus here on Freerepublic.

(Please note: This is a "King James Bible Believers Caucus" thread,
if you disagree that the KJB is the preserved word of God, this is not the thread for you.)

FREE REPUBLIC'S CAUCUS RULES:

Who can post? Members of the caucus and those specifically invited. What can be posted? Anything but the beliefs of those who are not members of the caucus. What will be pulled? Reply posts mentioning the beliefs of those who are not members of the caucus. If the article is inappropriate for a caucus, the tag will be changed to open. Who will be booted? Repeat offenders.

TOPICS: Current Events; General Discusssion; Ministry/Outreach

Will the King James Caucus subscribe to the beliefs and opinions of the actual KJV translators that is recorded in the original preface?

It is recommended reading.

I believe the correct acronym is KJV not KJB. Even in your own picture it says KJV.

I’m not sure, is this is just an announcement post?

If it’s one of your little “inclusive” group’s post, then why am I getting it?

If I continue to get them, having not signed up to, I will feel free to comment as I like.

You want to be able to preach to the whole FR congregation, yet only want to hear back from your own little study group.

While I reference almost any bible version, I use the NIV as it fits the closest with the Greek that the new testament was written in and today’s americanized English

As my first choice of a parallel I use the NKJV. The KJV is just too hard to read/understand with all it’s archaic words.

As far as a “bible” believer goes, count me one. The bible is absolutely the inspired word of God.

But you said “if you disagree that the KJB is the preserved word of God.....”

This suggests to me that you are saying that “ONLY” the King James Bible is “is the preserved word of God”.

That just isn’t TRUE!

King James was an honorable man and did a GREAT JOB of having the bible translated as accurately as he could. Not “perfect”, but very well done.

The translators used many versions themselves... “The King James Version translation effort was based primarily on the Bishops’ Bible, but the translators also used the Tyndale, Matthew, Coverdale, Great, and Geneva Bibles.....”.

It truly is a GREAT work.

I think the English translation of the Codex Sinaiticus reads like a combination of KJV and NKJV.

http://www.codexsinaiticus.org/en/

ALL versions/translations can be “inspired by God”, whose to say? God can’t inspire writers/translators today?

The Holy Spirit is “limited” to the KJV?

Does that not sound RIDICULOUS on it’s face?

The ONLY reason for “King James ONLY” is memorization. If your church switches versions, all those verses you memorized don’t match now.

I never thought much of “memorization”. Knowing what verses “MEAN” is far more important than quoting chapter/verse.

I await being booted from your sanctimonious little click.

It seems WhatNot needs to answer some questions. Diito on the Preface.

Just because everybody does it, doesn't make it right. If you and I do some hypocritical thing one day, yes it's wrong. But more than likely are hypocrisy will not effect the lives of millions of people.

Should we not hold are elected officials to a much higher standard?

Anyways, this is a thread to discuss all manner of topics, sometimes it may swing into the political, but more often than not, I hope it focuses more on how people can apply the preserved word of God in their daily lives.

My intro about what has happened over the past few days, was merely an explanation as to why I felt this would be a good thread to start.

You of course are free to disagree with my motivations, but they still my motivations.

I’d love to hear from you more on what you believe, can you use KJB verses when commenting on topics? If so, I’ll add you to the ping list.

I believe the KJV is an excellent and accurate translation.

I also consider it to be one of the few translations that stick to the Textus Receptus which so many other translations treat contemptuously.

But I am not KJ only. I don’t think the translators were either.

So, I am interested in what you and other King James supporters have to say, but if the caucus is King James only, I won’t be participating.

Don't know what you mean by, "why am I getting it?" I haven't even generated a ping list yet.

I appreciate your comments, but I don't think this is the Caucus for you, I'm sure you can start a Caucus that holds to Bible versions you believe to be correct though.

Aside from updated spelling, the KJB is the KJB, if you don’t agree than perhaps this is not a good Caucus for you to join, but if you would like to join and can use KJB verses in commenting, I’d be glad to ping you.
