The different positions are prayer positions to the different deities indicating to the demonic that you are open to their work in your life.

I did Christian based karate and there was nothing odd about it. We practiced technique, then proceeded to bible study following practice.

Yes, this is another symptom of a sick Church. Yoga, and more so the meditation on self. Most people are not aware of what you just said, that they are practices for channeling spirits (demons). A few years ago I actually did a study on this and Labyrinth paths when I discovered their presence inside US churches. A very sad sight.
