Humorous and a bit serious:

I’m pessimistic about prognostication because it says we don’t know the date.

So whatever dates men try to pick I’ve joked it’ll be none of those.

So all we gotta do is pick a day we’d never pick!

In a similar vein I know how to win the Lottery ... all I’ve got to do is pick 6 numbers that I’d never under any circumstances pick.

See? Easy! *bada*boom*kisk*

Nobody knowing the day or the hour probably doesn’t mean that nobody picked it out of a random hat. Assemble a good roomful of people picking from hats, and you’d probably find that somebody picked it.

Knowing would refer to a demonstrable certitude, which our hat date picking exercise would not amount to. And I can easily believe this, because the factors are very complex, embracing even facts that only God is privy to.
