The Jewish authorities, however, have been libeled ever since as “Christ-killers” and more.

Though the Jewish religious leaders were the main accusers of Jesus and demanded his execution, they are not "Christ-killers". WE ALL ARE GUILTY! Jesus died for our sins, willingly gave up his body as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Jesus said:

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. (John 10:11)

The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.” (John 10:17,18)

John 15:22-25 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.
