A Jewish Orthodox scholar is proposing an Old Testament ceremony, the redemption of the firstborn, to return Jesus of Nazareth to the Jewish fold and then hold a retrial at which he could be acquitted.
The first trial, two millennia ago, resulted in Jesus condemnation by the high priests for blasphemy, his crucifixion by the Roman conquerors and his resurrection through which Christians worldwide believe they can receive salvation and life eternal.
The Jewish authorities, however, have been libeled ever since as Christ-killers and more.
One scholar, Ariel Cohen Alloro, while not an official rabbi, is a student of one of todays great rabbis and a longtime student of Judaism and Christianity. He is proposing the traditional Pidyon haBen ceremony the Redeeming of the Firstborn Son to welcome Jesus, known to the Jews as Yeshua, back to his Jewish family and remove all the old taboos and restrictions related to his name from the Jewish Orthodox standpoint.
He said the next step should be to open a public retrial on behalf of Yeshua in the presence of 10 most important rabbis in Israel, meant to fix the initial rigged trial that took place 2,000 years ago and to clarify in front of the whole world all the aspects and issues related to this delicate subject.

"...he hopes, a retrial would exonerate Jesus of the allegations leveled by the high priests at the time."
Unfortunately, they still have it backwards. Jesus Christ was the kinsman redeemer for all of Israel, He has no need of redemption Himself.
He was born to die for us. According to the scriptures. It was necessary that he suffered and died in that manner
This going to be a fantastic year!
Winning!
:-)
It sure is! What an interesting development if such actually takes place.
No true Christian would ever refer to Jews as "Christ-killers."
And can it be that I should gain
an interest in the Savior's blood!
Died he for me? who caused his pain!
For me? who him to death pursued?--Charles Wesley, 1738
Jesus was circumcised according to Jewish ritual and was a lifelong student of The Law. But if some wanna-be Christian rabbi thinks he can get more mileage out of it than that, then more power to him.
Mrs Submareener hates the phrase, but we are having birth pains! Maranatha!
It's what was prophesied. If He had been accepted instead of rejected, things would be quite different today, as we would be living in the Almighty's Kingdom on earth.
Similarly, we could avoid the coming tribulation if only we would only turn away from sin, and back to God.
Yes we are! I still remember when it hit me that we may well be that generation alive during the second coming.
This appears to be a well-intentioned, positive development. I wish him well.
There are atheist Jews who treat being Jewish as an ethnic matter. I’ve even met some people at a Christian church who do not really believe in God. I think believing Christians and Jews have a lot in common and make a natural alliance.
Many Christians support Jews and Israel. They have reached out. I welcome this Jewish effort to reach out. Respect, friendship, and a tolerance of differences should be the goal.
Thank you. He’s going to need as many well wishes as he can get, along with Divine protection!
Acts 2:36 -- Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Will they be exonerating just a ‘good man’? Or will there be aq realization that He is the Savior God the Son?
This guy is NOT a rabbi. He keeps who he “studies” with a deep secret. He is by profession a musician. Frankly, from what I’ve researched, he is a crackpot claiming to be a scholar. He does NOT speak for Judaism. I would not take anything he says as representing Jewish positions on what he is discussing. I strongly suspect he is a Messyonic, and perhaps not even a Jew at all.
Let’s not introduce truth, rationality, and fact into a feel-good article!
Marinara!
Not necessary, by his choice. The freedom to accept a death he could have spared himself is what makes it pure love.
Oh I do agree on that:
17The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. 18No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.
