While I understand your "higher level", Jesus said we must come to him as a little child. Salvation is not earned by our adherence to some higher path, difficult way, or keeping of commandments. It is by belief in Jesus Christ, and the ability to believe is a gift from God the Father! Salvation has nothing to do with us, our intellect, or our effort. Did you write your own name in the Book of Life? Did you choose yourself? Did you elect yourself? NO! If you did, you could boast of your superior faith, intellect or effort.

Salvation is God's work alone, and he gave us to Christ as an inheritance.

Ephesian 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

.
“Belief” is a standard of living, not an intellectual position.
