Yet it was the believers in Berea who were first called “Christians”.

Acts 11:26 - "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Acts 17:11 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

The Bereans did not trust the disciples per se, but rather checked what they said against the scriptures. This goes to the heart of the Catholic-Protestant debate. Does the RC church's doctrines and traditions override scripture, or do we follow their interpretation? Regarding that question, then, why was the medieval RC church so determined to keep the scripture in Latin only, and forbid it to be translated to the common tongue? Look up Wycliffe and Tyndale and their experiences with this issue.

Not really. Those words were added in during the 4th century, long after the Torah keeping Bereans had been tortured to death for keeping the word.

Yeshua’s followers were always called Notzerim or Netzerim, because they followed the Netzer, Yeshua.

The earliest MS found do not have the words you offered.
