Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi explains why some prayers are answered and some aren't.
Here’s the latest.
Scripture gives the answer in 1 John 3:22.
Sometimes the answer is no.
Beat me to it.
That’s incorrect. Man isn’t in control.
Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God, and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight. (I John 3:21,22)
The concept that we can receive answered prayers from God is one that is confirmed throughout Scripture. Man is not in control in the sense that we do not command God to do anything - He is not our servant, but we are His. In this passage from the epistle of the Apostle John, we learn that God answers those prayers that come from obedience and when it conforms to His perfect will. David said:
If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer. (Psalm 66:18,19)
Our motives, the state of our hearts, our way of life, our situation, all of it is part of having our prayers answered. The TRUE power of prayer, though, is how it changes US. By taking our needs and petitions before our God and seeing how He answers them causes our faith to grow and mature as well as bringing Him the glory in all things.
This is a Rabbi who is part of some mission to Judaize unbelieving Jews or some such thing. They naturally do not regard the New Testament, and their teachings—polluted as it is by the absurdities of the Talmud—will be quite useless to Christians, and indifferent to Christian criticism.
Don't forget that they also "polluted" it with vowels and punctuation, none of which is in the original G-d-authored and Divinely-dictated text. Apparently you chrstians haven't gone far enough in de-"Judaizing." Now you have to throw all your translations in the garbage can because they all assume the validity of those evil "pollutions!"
Now if only you were Catholic so I could say something like "you mean the way you folks polluted the "new testament" with the Summa Theologica?"
This is almost as stupid as your Rabbis teaching people to eat "dust", mixed with honey, from around a toilet to cure ailments. Almost, anyway!
How did anyone know what Scripture said or how could they have been read and taught all those millennia if no one could understand God's words? Did the Holy men of God, who spoke as the Holy Spirit moved them, exclude "vowels and punctuation" so as to keep Divine revelation a mystery??? How exactly does anyone hide the word in their hearts so they might not sin against God if they didn't know for sure what that word was?
Sorry, there was no "pollution" inserted by translations from Hebrew to other languages that DID utilize punctuation and vowels. I believe God has preserved His sacred word and HE makes it known to all those who diligently seek the truth even if they don't read ancient Hebrew. Granted, some translations are better than others, but we have manuscripts of the Scriptures in their original languages by which all translations can be measured by those with the skills. God's word was/is for ALL the nations. Heaven and earth will pass away, but the word of our God will never pass away.
