The participation of an excommunicated bishop in the ordination of a new bishop last week was a slap in the face of the Holy Father, says Cardinal Joseph Zen, the retired Bishop of Hong Kong.
Cardinal Zen referred to the November 30 ordination of Bishop Joseph Tang Yuange for the Chengdu diocese. The ordination ceremony took place with approval of both the Vatican and the Holy See. But against the wishes of the faithful in Chengdu, Bishop Lei Shiyin of Leshan, who has been excommunicated after being appointed without a Vatican mandate, joined in the ceremony.
The determination of government officials to ensure the excommunicated bishops involvement shows that the Beijing regime is not ready to accept the Vaticans authority to appoint bishops, Cardinal Zen said. After such a long dialogue, they still show no kindness toward the authority of the Pope.
The Chinese cardinal has consistently argued that the Vatican must not yield to Beijings demands for control over the appointment of new bishops.
Did somebody think they might?
Apparently, the current full-time resident of the Vatican Motel thought so.
I think I see the connection.
Pope backs Global Warming (excluding China)
China ‘promises’ to allow Church access in China.
The Church tried something similar in Japan in the 1600’s
It didn’t work there either
Oh come on. Don’t be so hard on them. It only been about 400 years, and close to one-half-of-one percent of the population of Japan is Catholic...
I think it was Chairman Mao who said, “Religion is poison.”
And I do believe it was the Jesuits who spearheaded that attempt.
Hmmmmm...
And it was Chairman Bergoglio who said, "proselytism is solemn nonsense" and a "very grave sin against ecumenism".
Paul was appointed by Christ. No pope needed.
So was Peter. What’s your point, if you even have one?
No pope needed to call a man to preach the Word.
Paul received his call straight from Jesus.
If the Lord wants to call a man to preach, He will.
And we see Peter, and the other disciples, doing this in Acts.
38Peter said to them, Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
And after Acts 1 you will not find a mention of Mary in Acts.
No where in Acts did any of the apostles ever say you've gotta go through Mary first to get to Jesus. Never.
The NT is about Christ and only Christ. He is the focus.
Go talk amongst your protestant selves. I won’t bother with you.
Have a good night.
Bring in your protestant posse and talk amongst yourselves. I’m not into ecumenism.
What posse would that be?
