Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the Somali refugee who attacked eleven people on the campus of Ohio State University on Monday, was initially resettled in Texas by Catholic Charities of Dallas in June 2014, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Artan and his family “arrived at DFW Airport by way of JFK International Airport, and stayed in temporary housing in Dallas for 23 days,” according to NBC5.
A spokesperson for the State Department tells Breitbart News that 98 Somali refugees arrived in Texas in June of 2014, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Worldwide Refugee Admissions Processing System database.
Twenty-six were resettled in Dallas, 47 in Fort Worth, 19 in Houston, and 6 in Austin.
NBC News reported earlier that Artan was born in Somalia, then moved to Pakistan with his family in 2007.
“Pakistan continues to host approximately 1.45 million refugees. Most are from Afghanistan and live in refugee villages and urban areas,” according to the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) website for Pakistan.
Presumably, Artan and his family were processed by the UNHCR while in Pakistan, where they completed the current security vetting process and overseas medical screening. At some point, they were approved to enter the United States as participants in the federal refugee resettlement program by an officer of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), part of the Department of Homeland Security.
Subsequent to that approval, bureaucrats at the Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, in consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) determined that Artan and his family should be resettled in Texas.

Thanks for the further info. We stopped donating to Catholic Charities here in the Albany Diocese years ago as under Hubbard it was just a branch of the Democratic party. As I understood it, money was given to organizations that also funded abortions or at least were favorable towards abortion.
So I was already highly suspicious of Catholic Charity activities and this confirms that we were right to NEVER donate.
Catholic Charities has become a typical leftist money laundering type of organization using our money to further the shady leftist agenda.

It’s not like he went to a temporary refugee camp in Pakistan until he could be placed somewhere else.
He may have been a Somali refugee in Pakistan, but he stayed there for seven years. I don’t care what the UN or the US State Department says - if he lived in Pakistan for seven years then he was a refugee from Pakistan.
Mrs. JimRed and I used to attend the big Catholic Charities dinner-dance fundraiser regularly (she was parish administrator, so it was almost a duty). They always pointed out that assistance was given without regard for religious affiliation. They were indeed being truthful. But not too helpful to the rest of us.
Legitimate criticism is not necessarily bashing.
Catholic Charities (and many other religious groups) are contracted by the government to resettle illegals, refugees, ETC. and paid for by the taxpayers. It is done this way so the government can tell we the people that Charities are taking care of the illegals and refugees. We are not told the Charities are paid to do so with our money!

You should read up on Catholic Charities, I just read that it is only “nominally” Catholic and is actually a contractor for the government to cover their tracks and $ to resettle refugees and illegals. Other churches are also involved, at least with the illegals. I think the charities have been taken over by liberals and no longer resemble what they were supposed to be.
I don’t think this is meant to bash the Catholics as much as to inform people how all of this is taking place...
I wonder how much welfare and subsides this creep got from Uncle Sugar. We won’t even count the air fare for flying HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD. Think about the carbon footprint of flying these “refugees” around the world.
