Not to knock Pius X and his wonderful writings, but what really cuts the mustard is the actual bishops he appointed.
And how were the bishops he appointed? Were they like the bishops JPII and Benedict XVI appointed?
Also, given he implemented the Oath Against Modernism, I would suspect that holiness and loyalty to the Catholic Faith were of utmost importance to him.
It is not coincidental that Paul VI abolished same Oath and not one of the post-Vatican II popes have reinstated it...not even the supposed “traditionalist” pope Benedict XVI.
