Many evangelicals and Catholics have been guilty in this election of casting baseless judgments and aspersions on fellow believers. This vilification has been leveled with such a fevered and mob-like malevolence that the fundamental commandment to love your brother has been all but shredded. No doubt, the devil is laughing even as Jesus grieves.
The gist of the conflict is that Christians, who have decided that Donald Trump is so evil and immoral that any vote for him is to approve of and even become complicit in his sin, are questioning not only the character but the salvation of those who support the GOP candidate.
This condemnation encompasses even those reluctant and melancholy warriors for conservatism who are voting for him as a strategy to stop the advancement of a leftist political agenda that dominates a corrupt Democratic Partyan agenda that actually (not potentially) devalues life, disregards our laws, creates a culture of dependency, suppresses free speech and religious liberty, puts our nation at risk from passive and active invasion, and bankrupts our nation.
This kind of strategic voting is a sin according to Andy Crouch of Christianity Today...

Plenty of fingers to point and guilty ones to point at on all sides.
Just vote Trump.
Forget navel gazing.
Well, if I were to go on what Freepers are writing, it looks like most evangelicals and Catholics ARE voting for Trump. Of course, I realize it’s a limited pool.
The first post in the replies :
“In the meantime, a friend describes the choice facing voters in November this way: a vulgar, boorish lout and disrespecter of women, with a serious impulse-control problem; or a scheming, robotic liar with a lifelong appetite for power and an entourage riddled with anti-Catholic bigots.”

Voting for Obama was the height of idolatry.
Idolatry would depend on whether you praying for trump or praying to trump praying for someone to win or to be prosperous is not idolatry praying to someone like trump to bless you with monitory prosperity is idolatry if you pray to him for healing or guidance of a spiritual nature is idolitry
Find a bible and read it pray for discernment and wisdom to understand what it says
There is always the Unitarian church where you’ll be embraced for hating Trump and being a socialist/communist.
Render onto the Clintons what is the Clintons -certainly that’s higher distain than that for Trump.
I called it long ago with some of the Cruzbots who elevated Ted into some kind of messiah. They made him an idol when they said he was the “perfect conservative”.
When you make anything “perfect” other than God, you are making that person an idol.
This Christian and his household are voting Trump.
Sure, he’s no saint but neither is anyone else for that matter.
The opposite choice is outright pure evil straight from the Pit. How anyone that calls themselves “American” and vote for that communist is way beyond my comprehension.
So-called Christians that are taking the “holier than thou” approach with Donald need to be real careful and think this through, especially concerning the Supreme Court. NOT getting out and voting for Trump and just staying home IS basically not an option. Doing so is a vote for the Crypt Keeper from hell. God forbid she prevails, but if she does, it will be only a matter of time and you’ll no longer have a church to attend anywhere...at least not legally.
Choose wisely, Christian.

I don’t think so.
I saw it a lot more with Trump. That’s when I knew he would win the nomination. A lot of comments like, “Only Trump can save this country”, “he is the greatest American since. George Washington” etc...
None of it matters now.
Just vote for Trump, everyone.

Anyone else notice that the entire Trump reference is the repetition of Clinton-paid slander?
Thanks a heap, archbishop. Especially since Hillary will gut you like a fish if she gets in.
Idolatry? How did they get there from here? Just vote for the guy, we are not electing a Pope, a saint, or even a sinner.
Standing in judgement of other Christians because they do not want Hillary to be president due to her lawbreaking ways is in itself wrong.
I don't agree at all.
This is the ultimate goal of the MSM and apparently it works at least some of the time. How sad.
Totally agree with you, ifinnegan. It seems pretty clear to me that those who referred to Cruz as the "perfect conservative" were talking in a secular sense.
I saw it a lot more with Trump.
Once again, I agree with you. The comments about Trump from his Christian supporters were far more over-the-top than the comments from the Cruz supporters. One in particular used to cite Scripture to try and prove that Trump was God's anointed candidate.
So evil/not evil is not the issue.
I believe this is a wise, biblical core criteria for leadership qualification:
Exodus 18:21
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people
Call it as you honestly and coscientiously see it.
While attending Bible Study with our priest,we all commented on how leading figures of the bible like Abraham, for one,but there are many, were pretty terrible people,he for one fathering a child with his servant, but yet God worked with Abraham and a lot of others because they were the best he had to work with,to achieve his goals, who are we to judge.
He uses vessels that he chooses,we have a choice, the vessels are not pure, choose the one which will preserve our God given rights, protect our sovereignty, clean out corruption in our civil government and promote Life!
To me that is Donald Trump.

Agreed, and for exactly the same reasons. Well said.
You want to try again?
Cruz was the “anointed one” as Beck has said repeatedly.
http://www.inquisitr.com/2930500/glenn-beck-ted-cruz-anointed-by-god-save-nation-end-times-prophecy/
Most Trump supporters saw right through Cruz and his so called conservative record. His support for increased H-1b workers, to the TPP trade deal. Saying all that. Trump was the right pick. I doubt Cruz could handle the abuse that’s being dished out by Hillary.
Whomever wins is the "anointed one" bless their tyrannical little heart.
