Student Changes Christian College's Policy After Getting Kicked Out for Being Pregnant

In 2015, when officials at Claflin University in South Carolina learned senior honors student Kamaria Downs was pregnant, they kicked her out of the dorms and told her to move off campus.

"I was taken aback," the now 23-year-old elementary school teacher from Greenville told NBC News. "First, I wasn't even sure how they found out, and second, they were not offering me any type of housing."

For Downs, who had pre-paid for her dorm room and meal plan, living at home more than two and a half hours away from her Orangeburg school wasn't an option. So she ended up living with a professor, and wasn't refunded for her dorm costs.

Am surprised this college still had this policy. Why you ask? Many quit this back in the 1980's when they found their female students were having abortions in order to save their credits/avoid being thrown out.

Back then changed their policy but don't know what it was or what was done to handle these women.

And to think some sexists said female students couldn’t multi task.

Policy is policy; why is it so impossible for young women to use birth control to avoid getting pregnant, or remain chaste?

Like I said, most quit this policy in the 1980’s when they found women were having abortions.

“Back then changed their policy but don’t know what it was or what was done to handle these women.”

How did they “handle” those college men who got the college women pregnant?

Were they kick out?

I see. I just still don’t get how these women don’t stop and think that using birth control discreetly might be a good idea.

No. Same for Christian schools. I can prove this too just give me five minutes to find the video. Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics complained that some Christian schools should just have a shuttle bus to the abortion clinic. The problem is not that kids are having sex, the problem is the baby/pregnancy. The baby/pregnancy is evidence of the crime not the crime itself. So abortion does away with the baby/pregnancy thus the girl returns to class. Get what I’m saying?

I have a better idea. Why did they go to that school to start with? Most of these school are accredited, they cost thousands more than state schools and your credits do not transfer. Most of the time your degree is worthless unless you are working in a ministry related business. It’s money down the drain.

I got three words to say: WE ARE MARSHALL

I’d never waste my money on an accredited school.

Honors student, be black and blacks don’t marry, you knows, so no point asking the father to provide housing for his family.

This vital point be brushed off, yet she is doing the same darn things as the rest, and that does not justify “honors,” in my book of living.

State universities are accredited.

Because birth control practices are not 100% effective.

“State universities are accredited.”

I know this. Most Christian ones are unaccredited. I don’t know if this one is or not. Claflin University was started by the Methodist church. Is it still private or does it receive state funds?

Schools like Bob Jones U. are unaccredited, private, cost a fortune to attend and the degree is mostly worthless.

It seems like the college could have moved the pregnant girl to the stable with the animals if there was no room at the Inn. Isn’t that what happened with Mary. You Know. Gave birth to Jesus.?! Am I missing something here.,?! She did not get an abortion! Neither did The Mom of Christ. Oh gee the Christion College says Oh gee you are pregars and not married. Get the hell out here. You disgust me. Yeah real Christian...Not!!!

They often do it because they want to break the rules under the guise of ‘breaking new ground’ and ‘modernizing’ and frankly I believe that they do it to cause trouble.

A near-majority of women who get abortions report they were using a contraceptive at the time they were impregnated. Except for the long-term hormonals (injection, transdermal patch or implant), the others --- the use-one-every-time contraceptives ---have a huge failure rate.

As for being chaste: that prevents pregnancy 100% of the time. Well, boys and girls, what say?

I understand a “near-majoriity” to be a minority. Am I mistaken?
