The Mass was in Latin. and more formal than today. Midnight High Mass, Catholics followed the Mass with a missal with Latin on one side and English on the other. It was quieter as I do not remember a choir. The altar boys rang the bells at key moments. Greek was spoken: Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison

HOC EST ENIM CORPUS MEUM. FOR THIS IS MY BODY.

Going to Catholic school, we knew everyone and there was a real community.

As a youngster I had the opportunity to participate in the Midnight High Mass and installation of an Abbot. Very formal and holy.

We do have one parish that offers the Latin Mass and the High Mass in Latin.

Everyone should have the opportunity to experience this Mass.

I was stationed at the Embassy in Rome for three years. We lived about a 20 minute drive from St. Peter's and would occasionally attend Mass there instead of at Santa Susana's, the unofficial American parish. From time to time we would hear a Latin Mass from one of the side chapels in the Basilica.

I went to Catholic School for 12 years, about six of which were spent as an acolyte; I even served mass while in the military. I do miss the Latin Mass. I can still remember a lot of the responses.
