The Rapture in Daniel 12
bible study by Pastor Ken Johnson of Calvary Chapel Johnson County
I like the book of Daniel, very prophetic.
Thanks sister Lera
Dr. Ken Johnson is a outstanding, Bible teacher.
Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you;
Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past.
For behold, the Lord comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; the earth will also disclose her blood, and will no more cover her slain. Isaiah 26:20
Thanks for the post.
Satan now has unleashed yet another distraction . . . Pokémon Go. While people, young and old alike even in churches, are busy finding monsters all over the place, Jesus will come like a thief in the night. . . .only the Father knows exactly when. . .the main thing is to be ready. . . our redemption draweth nigh. http://www.patburt.com/

I find the arguement about the rapture useless.
I don’t think it’s in the bible, and it doesn’t matter.
Be ready for whatever God has planned and you’re covered.

Best case for biblical rapture I have seen.
I have no doubt about the rapture (pre trib)
I find it hard to believe that Muslims would behead 250 teenage christian girls for refusing to convert and we escape that.
Yes he is! Isn’t it interesting that Ken cites many of the ‘church fathers’ as teaching/writing about the end times and the rapture, yet modern Catholics assert that the Rapture doctrine is a 19th century fabrication? Ken is correct, of course. He cites the writings as his evidence!
I would highly recommend “Against the Flow” by John Lennox. It’s subtitled “ The Inspiration of Daniel In An Age of Relativism”. I’m working my way trough it now and have found it to be an excellent study.
Details.
1 Thes 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2 Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
2812 kleptes {klep'-tace}
from 2813; TDNT - 3:754,441; n m
AV - thief 16; 16
1) an embezzler, pilferer
1a) the name is transferred to false teachers, who do not care to
instruct men, but abuse their confidence for their own gain
Synonyms
kleptes 2812
lestes 3027
2812 - denotes one who steals by stealth
3027 - denotes one who steals openly
Anyway, the thief simile has always bugged me. The explanation is given as it pertains to sudden surprise and being caught off-guard, but there's just something else.
A thief takes stuff. People who break into houses are common criminals. They are shifty, skulking characters. Odd comparision. Jesus was crucified between two thieves (3027), as if he were just another low-life loser getting his due reward...
Like a thief, but he's not a thief - he's the most generous, loving, unassuming, and gracious person who ever walked the planet. No shiftiness there. No guile whatsoever. But you know how the media twists things.
So the question that comes to mind is, "Just what type of **cloud** does he come in on, anyway?" I mean if people are literally looking up to the sky, they could be looking in the wrong direction. Or perhaps they would be caught unawares, being distracted by yet another hyped-up news story involving some innocent, Average Joe American. You know how the news networks and social media mobs can set their hearts on crucifying someone. That would be another way of looking up... to the cross.
Rev 16:15-16 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon*.
* hill of crowds
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
There went his reputation.
While people, young and old alike even in churches, are busy finding monsters all over the place...
Ah, someone finally gets it.
Thanks for your post. Our country has lost its moral compass. We have been given over to a degenerate/reprobate mindset. I would like to be more positive; but you have to call it as you see it. However, revival and salvation can sweep the country if we will only repent and also follow God’s command. . . the Great Commission. . . . to reach the lost (to all nations).
Anyway, the thief simile has always bugged me.
Get ready, stay ready. The Israelite's had warning of the time of Passover, those in Yeshua will not have the luxury of knowing the exact time the transformation will occur. Therefore, we must get/keep our house (includes your entire family) in order - as one who is guarding his house against a thief breaking in to steal and plunder. Leave no man/woman/child behind.
So the question that comes to mind is, "Just what type of **cloud** does he come in on, anyway?" I mean if people are literally looking up to the sky, they could be looking in the wrong direction.
He said he will come like the lightening. I read that as not electrical storm lightening, but as the lightening of night to day. Perhaps as some rolling disturbance in the atmosphere, all the while, those alive and in Yeshua will be transformed as this disturbance rolls over them? As for Yeshua himself coming down, the way he ascended, it seems to me it must take place in Israel, perhaps at the 'Mount of Olives'?
No one, other than the Almighty, knows exactly when/how this plays out. I do believe with 99% certainty we are living at the end of this age, as many do. For sure all we need to get our house in order.
Now there is something we really *do* see every day.
You would think people would catch on and not jump to conclusions about anyone. The media, mobs, and assorted experts can take the most righteous person and make him out to be the devil. Best to take the time to look over and weigh the evidence carefully, because
Those wedded to the belief that the King of Kings is a criminal, are going to be thrust out of his kingdom. There is simply no place for them there if they are convinced of his guilt by the likes of CNN or Facebook.
Mat 6
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure [2344] is, there will your heart be also.

2344 thesauros {thay-sow-ros'}
from 5087; TDNT - 3:136,333; n m
AV - treasure 18; 18
1) the place in which good and precious things are collected and laid up
1a) a casket, coffer, or other receptacle, in which valuables are kept
1b) a treasury
1c) storehouse, repository, magazine
2) the things laid up in a treasury, collected treasures
Compare:
01595 genez {gheh'-nez}
from an unused root meaning to store; TWOT - 365a; n m
AV - treasury 2; chest 1; 3
1) treasury, chests?
1a) chests (of variegated cloth) (meaning uncertain)
1b) treasury
Where is the King of King's soul? Where is his kingdom? In the treasuries on high. (Unlike Ahashverosh)
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Now if the goodman of the house had lived at another address, he wouldn't have had to worry about the thieves. :)
But to be Rapture Ready you have to be wearing your rapture best, don’t you? Clean underwear, at least.
Let's go there:
Mat 24
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
[The witnesses can be found in... chapter 11.]
But back to the lightning, and false impressions and beliefs:
796 astrape {as-trap-ay'}
from 797; TDNT - 1:505,86; n f
AV - lightning 8, light shining 1; 9
1) lightning
1a) of the gleam of a lamp
With the concept narrowly focused on lightning, at casual glance the verse appears to be describing an instanteous event. FLASH! Across the sky, speed of light, imagery like that.
But you can't really be certain there. The verse, however, does state plainly that as "astrape" comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Comes out of the east, and shines unto the west. No real timeline there... yet the assumption [of this celerity in time] sneaked in and took firm root via the word "lightning". It satisfies most, which is why the next verse ends up as a perplexing riddle.
Yet the next verse clarifies, so as to leave no doubt:
For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
That word "lightning". It ended up blinding people.
All these folks who sell their interpretations in the religious stalls? They've been reporting on events as accurately as the MSM.
As for Yeshua himself coming down, the way he ascended, it seems to me it must take place in Israel, perhaps at the 'Mount of Olives'?
It's the plain meaning.
Acts 1
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
why stand ye gazing up...
this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go
How does that work? How can he come in the same manner as he is seen going up? Well look at how he went!
From the ground up.
Patterns, templates, details.
Mat 11
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven
John the Baptist was Elias.
Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
Elijah came back, from the ground up.
0127 'adamah {ad-aw-maw'}
from 0119; TWOT - 25b; n f
AV - land(s) 125, earth 53, ground 43, country 1, husbandman 2,
husbandry 1; 225
1) ground, land
