I battle with this. There are times when I’m all on board then there are times were I totally rebel thinking “what’s the point” or “why do I have to be in control or deny myself when the there are others that have done worse and gotten away with it”. The “poor me” attitude is one that’s the hardest to deal with. As I’ve gotten older I realize that giving into the “poor me” only makes me worse off than before. Still, after knowing this, the battle continues.
And yet, I think on this one MacArthur misses the main point.
Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit.While the things he mentioned are good practices, they will NEVER produce the kind of self-control that the Holy Spirit can in our lives.
