What he actually said was that he did not like the term genocide because Christians were being killed not for their ethnicity but for their faith in God.

As such, the appropriate term should be martyr in witness to Christ, not the generic, secular term genocide which did not accurately describe and which diminished their sacrifice

Your pope is trying to sugar coat it...Almost make it sound like these people are voluntarily becoming martyrs and looking forward to it...

The children and babies that they are murdering aren't martyrs...They are being murdered because their parents are Christians....No one is asking these people if they want to live for Mohammed or die for Jesus...It's just a wholesale slaughter because they are known as Christians...Genocide...

Your pope is a flake...

If they're baptized, and being killed because their killers know their parents are Christians, they're martyrs beyond question.

For a Pope to call them "martyrs," rather than "genocide victims," is significant. Martyrs go straight to heaven. Genocide victims, not necessarily.
