Senator Ted Cruz has often stated that Jesus Christ is central to his life. He talks about how his father had left his family but returned after receiving the gospel, how his mother turned to Christ, and how this changed his life:
I was raised in the church. When I was eight years old [I] gave [my life] to Jesus. [To] know that I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, nothing is more important to me. I am a new creature in Christ, and it [is] central to who I am today.
I couldnt run for president without relying heavily on my faith . From the day we launched the campaign, Heidi and I have prayed simply that his will would be done. Each day, we try not to seek his hand (asking for help winning the race), but rather to seek his face (praying that his love and glory would be seen every day in the campaign).
Cruzs unashamed affirmation of Christ resonates deeply with many Christians. But it has also created concern among many Christians and non-Christians alike. In this article, wed like to clarify what we believe are misrepresentations of Cruzs faith and its relationship to his politics....

One of many links.
That is reflected in the six- or seven-to-one ratio of Trumpists to Cruz-backers in the ad hoc 2016 Election Caucus results. Most of the people logging in to FR do not really want a Federal or State predominance of public servants who would manifest truly Christian values in their service and insist on that as a prerequisite for accepting a post where decisions for moral decency must be made.
Even subscribimg to such values here on FR brings down a rain of criticism if one's Christianity is not restricted to the "Religion" forum and allowed to range throughout the whole site.
IMHO, it is crass foolishness to prefer a rule of a worldling exhibiting the life style and practices of Donald Trump rather than the genius guiding Ted Cruz and others putting honor, loyalty, and truth above personal gain in their political life.
cRuz advisor/mentor/oath giver Beck and cRuz PAC leader (and Beck BFF) David Barton both promote 7 Mountains/Dominionism, as well.
Ted allowing those wifely comments that Ted is the “FACE OF GOD” is not cool. Not with me. Not with Jesus. Certainly not God our Father, nor His Church.
In Lystra, when folks saw a miracle and acclaimed the apostles to be Gods, the apostles tore their clothing in disgust, terror and shame...
When Herod touched god’s glory in a speech, the angel of God smote him with cancerous tumors INSTANTLY because he did not instantly repent and give God the glory.
When Moses failed to sanctify God when smiting the rock to obtain life giving water.. it did not go well with him and he was refused entry at that time, into the promised land. Never set foot in it, until the Mount of Transfiguration as far as I can discern. And Ted is NO Moses.
Ted is perceived by many evangelicals and Pentecostals as being strangely “off” in his profession, faith and lifestyle.
You show Ted more respect than I can. In that, I guess my hat is off to you... but I think he and his wife represent more of the “Ananias and Sapphira” types to many of us.
You clearly make a good and faithful friend...

It’s Atlantic City, not Atlanta and that’s the only one and it happened AFTER Trump had sold his interest in the property, so Trump didn’t open anything.
The property still licensed his name and he could have attached something to the license that would have prohibited something like that from happening, but obviously he didn’t. I suppose you can (and probably will) fault him for that.
But please, from now on, do your research and be honest. Thank you.
If it’s a live affair now, surprising it has created so little fuss. Why did Ted have to reach way back into Melania Trump’s past with a scandal of this sort going on now?
Far from being an accusaqtion, IMHO it is high praise. I hope to be so "accused" here and in eternity.
“Read the Bible much?”
No I don’t, but I do read quite every day from a book called “God’s Word for Simple Abundance”. It’s 180 devotions. I like it because I can use it to easily relate to issues and events in our world.
Bad judgment on his part, but unless he can control the licensing of the Trump brand after the deal was done, he can’t fix it. Put this in the “too soon old and too late smart” category.
As another poster mentioned, upthread, this was after Trump had sold the property.
I believe he sold the property in 2007. He’s boasted that his timing was impeccable....getting out of that market...as the values crashed not long, afterwards.
Looks like I didn’t do my research. He had not sold the interest, so his company did do it.
I guess I’ll vote for Ted Cruz now.
He didn't and you know it because it has been explained to you numerous times before. That PAC was not affiliated with Cruz. Pro-Cruz yes, affiliated No and you CAN'T prove it was either.
Except he no longer owns it, and so it’s probably too late to put the moral restriction on the Trump brand. Allowed it, but in a bad management sense not in a current permission sense.
Explained to me numerous times before?
Please document it, in connection to replies to me.
I agree. Let's quote Jesus' words when he encountered hypocrites and liars:
"You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say." ~Matthew 12:34
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence.
"You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness" ~Matthew 23:25-27
I wonder if any of these words apply to Cruz: robber, self-indulgent, appearing one way outwardly but actually quite different inwardly. Yea, I can see the parallels.
Scratch that. I was right the first time. Trump sold out of the Trump company that owned the casino.
In fact, he even sued them to stop using his name soon after the Scores opened.
So why didn’t this come out as a bigger scandal than Melania Trump’s past?
True, to really be on the up and up, Donald should sell these morally troublesome interests outright, if possible not along with a Trump name license. It would make a difference in the general election.
