You are correct, there are too many Catholics who get carried away on praying to Mary, including clergy and religious. But when you are talking about more than a billion people, there are bound to be a few million who go beyond Catholic teaching.

You seemed to give that impression a few posts back.

However, in the NT we do not have any example of people being told, or people praying to, departed believers.

. We do have numerous examples of being told to direct our prayers to God. The best known being the Lord's Prayer.

There are Catholics who get carried away. I was wrong about the Catechism, though, and you corrected me. I did not realize that it specifically stated that we pray to Mary.

It got me to wondering when Christians first started expressing concerns with praying to Mary. Do you have any information on that?
