I suppose he could pray for forgiveness for producing a substance that can cause others to stumble through drunkeness. Or perhaps even cause the death of others if a DUI is involved.

You could say much the same about producers of gasoline, or knives, or baseball bats ...

Should anyone who manages to turn water directly into wine make the same prayer? Or does that not count if it’s done prior to the development of motor vehicles?

If that's your attitude, I imagine you're all in favor of the current dem push to hold firearm manufacturers accountable for crimes committed with guns.

You should probably also chide Jesus Himself for turning water into wine.

That would be insane. The man is producing something that God gave us.

Wine is just a thing, like a gun. Either can be used well or badly. People often cook with wine. In the time of Jesus people didn't drink the water because it wasn't generally fit to drink.
Wine was THE drink of ages.

People can do bad things stone, cold sober.
But you KNOW that.

Besides, people CHOOSE to drink too much and then CHOOSE to drive. If the host/hostess ALLOWS that then s/he is part of the problem as much as anyone else.

"Stumbling through drunkeness" doesn't necessarily happen with wine. People can do that with whiskey, drugs or both.

No need to judge wine-making as causing sin any more than a match causes arson. People giving into SIN and SATAN are the cause of problems, not a substance or a weapon. But, you know that too, doncha? :o)
