But after the audience with the Pope, in the course of the liturgical celebrations that the delegation has officiated in Rome along with groups of faithful who came also from Finland, it happened during a Catholic Mass that communion was also given to the Lutherans.

This, at least, is what was reported by the Finnish Lutheran weekly "Kotimaa", signaling the surprise of a member of the delegation, Samuel Salmi, bishop of Oulu, according to which the Catholic officiants knew very well to give communion to the Lutherans ...

We are all Protestants now? The Church is going Episcopal before our very eyes. God is coming as Judge. God help us. We really are a remnant now.

Oh, the Finns...

They are, well, weird. Doesn’t make it better (on either side) but it does make some sense.

The Scandinavians still have Apostolic Succession (they didn’t go through the 30 years war, the lists were never burned). And being part of Russia for so long made the Fins a bit different. One missionary I support is of Finnish Lutheran stock, and works in western Russia. I once asked him if the Russian government gave him much trouble, and he just laughed.

They fit somewhere between Lutheran, Orthodox, and Catholic. More Lutheran of course, but they sometimes slide to the other two more than is proper.

OMGosh. True story. This “change” business is the new gospel, and any Mercy for those who elect to remain Catholic is not present. We are “idolic” and don’t appreciate that God can “surprise”.

To the contrary, I fully expect to be surprised by our Lord, and possibly soon— just not while entertaining apostasy.
