Well, of course. However, "Apostolic Tradition" doesn't come out of a hat.

Hopefully, we agree that when a tradition, any tradition, contradicts Jesus' words/teaching, that tradition is false. When we hear the Pope or his theologians contradicting Jesus' words and gospel in general, we must say the teaching of those men is false!

Another way of saying this: when Apostolic Tradition is in agreement with the NT and particularly the gospels, we can say Apostolic Tradition is true. When Apostolic Tradition conflicts or contradicts with the NT and particularly the gospels, we MUST SAY that Apostolic Tradition is false.

Regarding the subject at hand, is the Pope speaking Ex Cathedra - or not? This is critical.

Nothing has changed. When the Prelate speaks of morals and/or doctrine, he is speaking Ex Cathedra.

Every Pope I know has condemned abortion unequivocably.

I wish that this Pope had received as much publicity setting up free showers and barbers in Vatican Square as he does now.
