He should do away with these relics like King Hezekiah did with the relics back in the old testament.

"He should do away with these relics [e.g. the papal crucifix] like King Hezekiah did with the relics back in the old testament."

Apples and oranges. Hezekiah ordered the destruction of pillars and images and even groves of trees dedicated to Canaanite gods and goddesses, and, among other things, the destruction of the bronze serpent which had been made and used by Moses. At that point, Hezekiah was dealing with objects outside of the Temple in Jerusalem, and he wished to make the Temple the sole focus of Israelite public worship. Focusing all our attention on Jerusalem is no longer relevant to Christian worship.

If it is argued that these objects were used superstitiously and ought to have been destroyed, then it should be noted that they are not all, or always, used so. Moses instructed that the bronze serpent should be preserved with the furniture of the tabernacle, and, when attached to that structure, it had been preserved as a religious relic for seven hundred years.

If this were idolatry or superstition, Moses would not have commanded it, nor would David nor Solomon, in the first part of his reign, have tolerated it. And Asa and Jehoshaphat, when they rooted out idolatry, would also have destroyed the bronze serpent, if they had perceived it had been used in a superstitious or idolatrous way.

Bottom line, holy objects (like a crucifix) used sacramentally, and not superstitiously, are not to be destroyed.
