It makes sense that she wasn't having sex with Joseph before the proper time for the marriage to be consummated.
Basically, she said, *How can this be since I'm not having sex with any man?*
She used the present tense. Whether or not she ever intended to have sex is really irrelevant.
The fact of the matter is she knew she was a virgin and knew how babies were made, and and it didn't make sense to her that she could be pregnant under her current circumstances.

This is a good point. She was chosen by God to be the vessel through which the Son of God came into the world. After that, it really doesn’t matter what she and Joseph did. It neither adds to nor detracts from the saving grace we receive from God.
I’m not sure how I got myself involved in this discussion, but right now, I am bowing out.
