J Vernon McGee/ I can hear his voice in my head.I liked John R Rice too. His booklet called Hell, what the Bible says about it, scared me out of Hell and into Heaven. I freely, totally, completely, 100% admit that. Some may not like that. Oh well. Such is life.

... some Protestants worship the Bible like muslims worship the Koran. You are DEFINITELY correct here; if you are meaning the KJV.
I always want to ask, "What do GERMANS use?
The French?
Japanese?
None can read ENGLISH!

God Himself promises that if we confess our sins HE is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. If He is going to do that, there's no way He'd give a priest the power to retain sins. It's going against His will for the priest to do so. Yeah, but He did...it's beyond my pay grade to ascertain why.....but He did.

You seem to have a grasp of logic. It’s as if they believe an angel gave humans the KJV in a nice leatherbound volume. I would point out that no where in the Bible is the KJV nor did the Bible come with a table of contents, nor was the Bible compiled until after the third Century a fact they often forget.

As usual, you are only partially correct but you assume you are 100& right.

Wrong. Jesus never told anyone to follow His church. He told them to follow HIM. Matthew 4:19 And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 8:22 And Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead." Matthew 9:9 As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him. Matthew 10:38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." Mark 1:17 And Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men." Mark 2:14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him. Mark 8:34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Mark 10:21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." Luke 5:27 After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth. And he said to him, "Follow me." Luke 9:23 And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:59 To another he said, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." Luke 18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." John 1:43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and
they follow me. John 12:26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. John 21:19 And after saying this he said to him, "Follow me." John 21:22 Jesus said to him, "If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!" Yeah, but then He told us how to follow Him...through the Catholic church...pay attention.

Jesus said to follow Him not some church. A church can not save anyone but Jesus can. I agree, He said to follow Him...and then He provided a method to do so...the Catholic church....without the church, you wouldn't even know who He was....think about it.

The Old Testament is all about knowing who Jesus was. It's what Jesus Himself used to verify and validate His claims about Himself.
This may be news to you but the OT was written LONG before the Catholic church came into existence.

...How is God the Father of Jesus if they have both always existed?Your question is the answer to what has been debated on this tread ad infinitum.
Mary gave birth to the earthly body of Jesus.
That's the point, she is not the mother of the Holy Spirit and the Father God.
How could she give birth to the Holy Spirit when He is the One that impregnated her?
Reminds me of that song "I'm my own grandpa"

You motivated me to look up Davao City in Wikipedia. It must be really quite lovely.
Ah yes, the Cumberland Gap. We are a little to the southeast of that region, in the Watauga watershed--- which you can get from Western North Carolina via Buckner Gap and Sam's Gap. We've got more gaps here than the Cumberlands.
We're acoustic and traditional religious, as in shape notes. I mean culturally. Religiously, my husband is Russian Orthodox and I am Catholic, per omnia saecula saeculorum!
Davao City sounds, like I said, delish. But Upper East Tennessee is beautiful, beautiful country. Good people.
Oh yeah. And turkeys too.

J Vernon McGee was a great preacher and Biblical scholar.
His sermons kept playing on the radio long after his death.
And I kept listening to them.
RIP J Vernon
