and for that reason alone,

That's not why Catholics don't believe in either. Do you believe these events are going to happen?

This Born again nonsense as you use it is a concept that stems from a misinterpretation of the Bible why do you presume I should accept that it’s correct in order to refute it, a logically impossible thing to do. I find it ridiculous that you and our fellow heretics think that once saved always saved.

Hmmm. A little exercise here that apparently Roman Catholics are loathe to do since Scripture means so little to them....

Born Again as "nonsense"....

John 3: 1-21:

3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him." 3 Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." 4 Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" 5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." 9 Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?" 10 Jesus answered him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.""

Hmmm. Salvation....

John 6:39...From Christ's own mouth:

39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.

John 10:27-28 -- From Christ's own mouth:

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Just a few. But, I'm sure you won't care because this is just God's inerrant, holy, and inspired word....

Still waiting on you to explain how God can die. And why he has a mother thus making him a little bit less then eternal...

When I was a kid, I wondered why my parents, relatives and friends called people Brother/Sister. It wasn’t until later I understood after reading the Bible and it was as clear as I could be.

If that’s the reason you don’t believe in sola Scriptura or the rapture then you might as well ditch the trinity, the papacy, transubstantiation, immaculate conception, etc, as well.

Again, you displayed the hypocrisy of your position, rejecting some doctrines because they are not explicitly spelled out in Scripture and accepting others even though they are not explicitly spelled out in Scripture.

In fact there were no popes for a couple of hundred years until Catholicism ex post factoed them in around the 3rd century.

And of course you can prove this claim using legitimate historical sources, or secular sources such as the Encyclopedia Britannica, or the World book online.

This ought to be fun to watch.

That’s what the Bible says which is different than what you born again groupies actually believe. Again, why should I presume your misinterpretation is valid?

How is it different?

What misinterpretation are you claiming we have that is not valid?

If you say that Mary is the Mother of Jesus, and NOT the Mother of God, then you are saying that Jesus is not God.

Note that in Luke 1:43, Elizabeth calls Mary “the Mother of my Lord.”

So, you see, Scripture calls Mary the Mother of God.

In Luke 1:43, Elizabeth calls Mary “the mother of my Lord.”

Who is “the Lord”? God.

So Scripture DOES call Mary the mother of God.

Yes. Everyone knows that Jewish women in the first century always gave birth to 175-lb. babies.

Logic is beyond the mental capacity of anti-Catholic bigots.

I have had multiple bigots DENY that this is a valid syllogism:

Mary is the mother of Jesus.
Jesus is God.
Mary is the mother of God.

They say that “human reason” can play no role when we are talking about Jesus.

But God DID die on the cross! That’s precisely why it MATTERS that Jesus died on the cross!

Mary has NEVER been called the Mother of the Trinity. The title “Mother of God” has never meant that Mary is the Mother of the Trinity.

Mary is the Mother of Jesus.
Jesus is God, the Second Person of the Trinity.
Therefore, Mary is the Mother of God, the Second Person of the Trinity.

Continually protesting that “Mary is not the mother of the Trinity” is like picketing the nearest fire station, protesting the green fire engines, even though all the fire engines are red. You are protesting against something that NOBODY BELIEVES.

The fact that Mary was saved by Jesus does not imply that Mary ever sinned.

and you know this how??....the only scripture writings that you have to read were given to you be the Catholic church...and they read the same writings, and ONLY they are authorized to interpret them.

Then according to that logic, 1st century souls should have submitted to the Jews and their historical magisterium:

..because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. (Romans 3:2)

Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (Romans 9:4-5)

You say, “God does not have a mother.”

Then you contradict the gospels, which tell us that Jesus, who is God, had a mother.

They say that "human reason" can play no role when we are talking about Jesus.

****************************

I believe that we agree. This is illogical.

God gave us brains for a reason. He didn't want blind love; He wanted us to choose to love Him. This is why He made us in His image.

And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.

To believe that human reason does not apply when it comes to understanding God's plan for us makes no sense. We are not God's dumb animals. We are not God's pets. We are His children.
