Sounds like the old joke where the guy comes in with a gun, tells the congregation that he is only going to shoot Christians and lets everyone who chooses leave. Once they have gone, he tells the Pastor he can preach since only real Christians are left.

You are correct, attendance would drop but the wheat would definitely be separated from the tares.
