The thing that bothers me so much about Christians wanting to “save” the Earth is that God has promised that He was going to destroy it. Everything will burn and there will be a new heaven and a new Earth.

According to Scripture, you are right. However, secularists do not share that view.

Secularists have their own eschatology ... the death of the universe, well preceded of course by the death of the solar system. It’s a staple of cable TV science shows, and I wouldn’t recommend them for the kiddies, certainly not before they give up Santa Claus.
