That’s correct but reading the romanization in English is misleading. You can listen to the pronunciation at Google translate. The b is softer than an English b and sounds more like an m when you hear it. And then of course there is the cute ku ending.

Sounds like the Korean, the characters are like the Chinese.

Yes, you are correct. It almost sounds like ‘maygoku.’
