Christian apologist Hal Lindsay told this story on himself. He was at the mall, pushing his mid-90s father in a wheelchair, when they passed a drop-dead gorgeous young woman. Hal, conscious he had let his eyes linger too long and surmising his dad had noticed, said, "It must be nice to finally get to the age when things like that aren't so tempting."
His dad replied, "Yes, it must be."
I’ve heard similar accounts myself.
Seems that there’s no age at which that temptation isn’t an issue.
I guess the implication in that passage is that the temptation will always be with us.
Even Jesus was tempted in every way, just as we are, but was without sin.
But thank God the temptation is not sin. It’s just temptation.
Our victory is overcoming the temptation, not avoiding it, although there are ways to not deliberately put yourself in the path of it.
