We live at a time where the fundamental truth of marriage is under a ferocious and indeed a diabolical attack, which seeks to obscure and sully the sublime truth of the married state as God intended it from the creation, said His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, standing before a crowd of nearly 1,000 people in Franciscan Universitys Finnegan Fieldhouse.
Burkes nearly hour-long keynote address on the evening of Sept. 8 focused on the Instrumentum Laboris, the draft document for the XIV Ordinary General Synod of Bishops, which will meet at the Vatican in October to address the mission of the family in the church and in the world.
Marital infidelity, divorce and contraception are sadly commonplace today, and now society has gone even further in its affront to (God) law by claiming the name of marriage for liaisons between persons of the same sex, said Burke, who holds a doctorate in canon law and studied for years in Rome.
He continued, Even within the church there are those who would obscure the truth of the indissolubility of marriage in the name of mercy, who would condone the violation of the conjugal union by means of contraception in the name of pastoral understanding, and who in the name of tolerance would remain silent about the attack on the very integrity of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Why did the Vatican make a point of disparaging the meeting between the Pope and Kathy Davis?
"The Vatican" is kind of a convoluted term here. Abp. Vigano, the Papal Nuncio who set up the meeting --- at Pope Francis' request LINK), according to Austin Ruse at Breitbart---- is a member of "the Vatican" --- namely, the Vatican diplomatic corps.
Likewise Fr. Federico Lombardi is a member of "the Vatican" as director of the Holy See Press Office.
What we're seeing is a huge example of "a house divided against itself."
As a loyal Catholic, I know there is a big difference between an Apostolic hierarchy and a clerical bureaucracy. I would applaud, praise God and lead cheers for St. Michael the Archangel, to see the "clerical bureaucracy" fall.
My vote’s for Burke as well.
Thank you!
I’m so glad that Francis has personally invited Cardinal Burke back to his Synod II, after the good cardinal forcefully stood up for the Faith at Synod I.
Oh, wait. That’s not right, is it?
I wish that the Pope had been so forthright and clear.
Franciscan University is the real deal. Liberal parishes absolutely refuse to hire any graduates from this school. God bless them!
