Anyway, even if he had said it, it would be absolutely null and utterly void. It’s a well-known principle in Catholicism that the minute a Pope teaches heresy, he ceases to be Pope.
Stories like this (even if true) would not shake *this* Catholic to the core because if it ever happened, I would be leading the charge for the Pope to be deposed as a heretic.
Actually amend what I said earlier...it’s not a “well known principle”, it is a theological opinion that some hold, though others vigorously dispute.

We’ve heard this current pope degrade capitalism as the “devil’s dung.”
We’ve heard him “mistranslated” saying all manner of crazy things.
He earned our belief that he could say almost anything contrary to truth.
Good luck deposing a pope.
