IMHO, the Pharisees get a bad rap in the NT, as that sect evolved into modern Orthodox Judaism, and after all, it was the Sadducees of the Temple that bribed Judas to betray Jesus.
Also IMHO, there is good evidence in the NT that Jesus was himself a Pharisee, as they practiced baptism and were the ones who were “ordaining” rabbis by simacha, or the laying on of hands.
