Pre-protest or post-protest?
I think we are on the same page of the hymnal.;-)
Ceramic doesn’t catch fire.
There’s also a distinction to be made between calling upon as an example (as in other situations one might refer to Abraham) and as an active medium.
I wonder whether it gathered moisture as well.
One of the most glaring examples is related to something Jesus told Nicodemus (John 3) concerning the brass snake Moses raised up on a pole, so any who looked at it were cured of snake bite. Two generations later and the Hebrews had venerated the snake and were making statuary of it and praying to it!
The roman catholic mary.....no.
The apparition of "Our Lady of Guadalupe".
At dawn on December 9, 1531, Juan Diego, an Indian convert, was going to Tlatelolco to attend catechism class and hear the Mass. As he was passing Tepeyac Hill, he saw a brilliant light on the summit and heard the strains of celestial music. Filled with wonder, he stopped. Then he heard a feminine voice asking him to ascend. When he reached the top he saw the Blessed Virgin Mary standing in the midst of a glorious light, in heavenly splendor. The beauty of her youthful countenance and her look of loving kindness filled Juan Diego with unspeakable happiness as he listened to the words which she spoke to him in his native language. She told him she was the perfect and eternal Virgin Mary, Mother of the true God, and made known to him her desire that a shrine be built there where she could demonstrate her love, her compassion and her protection. "For I am your merciful Mother", she said, "to you and to all mankind who love me and trust in me and invoke my help. Therefore, go to the dwelling of the Bishop in Mexico City and say that the Virgin Mary sent you to make known to him her great desire."

The actual quote.
"Know for certain, least of my sons, that I am the perfect and perpetual Virgin Mary, Mother of the True God through whom everything lives, the Lord of all things near and far, the Master of heaven and earth. It is my earnest wish that a temple be built here to my honor. Here I will demonstrate, I will exhibit, I will give all my love, my compassion, my help and my protection to the people. I am your merciful mother, the merciful mother of all of you who live united in this land, and of all mankind, of all those who love me, of those who cry to me, of those who seek me, of those who have condfidence in me. Here I will hear their weeping, their sorrow, and will remedy and alleviate all their multiple sufferings, necessities and misfortunes."
Catholics would do well to re-examine their beliefs regarding this apparition and compare it to the Word.
And yet the snake figure itself was not intended for evil. It is humans who embraced an evil misrepresentation of it made by the devil.
I remember an ephod that was venerated too.
Today he's back on the good list.
Yes, he had it wrong.....btw...you do know he was a roman catholic....right?
You might want to look that one up....it’s not who you’re thinking.
“From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for meholy is his name.”
Luke 1:49
At least some concepts of her seem to overpromise, as in this case. If it’s the biblical Mary, she shouldn’t be trying to suck all the spiritual oxygen out of the room. That’s way out of character.
Whoever this is, she went way beyond “heavenly prayer committee member” here.
But why do you say she is a Goddess...a Mediatrix.
That is blasphemy.
You do her a dishonor to say that.
She is a servant. You have been sold a lie...though most likely an innocent lie.
Okay great! She’s blessed!
Now, just Who blessed her?
And guess Who has the power to bless us?
Miracles to happen.
First, let's get the passage correct. It will put the proper emphasis on where it's supposed to be...and it's not Mary.
Luke 1:48-49 (NASB)
48 For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave; For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.
49For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is His name.
The Greek reads as "will count be blessed." It's a verb in the Future tense.
It's not a title.
“It’s a verb in the Future tense.”
Yes, now she is called “blessed”. That came true
Great link to the San Jose fire in CA.
Yes the emphasis here is that the Lord would stoop to her humble state and bless her with the privilege of being the earthly mother of God’s Son.
It’s “Look what God did.”
Obviously not every Christian gets that privilege. Only that one out of billions has received it. But it yet stands as an example of how God can bless.
