Jefferson and others saw State matters and Federal matters as separate issues, something that is no longer the case in any way, shape or form, since all State matters are now subject to the scrutiny of Federal courts no matter what the will of the people in a particular State may be.

That’s always been the nature of the collective state-establishments America’s founders tried to protect themselves and their progeny from.

“COMMERCE BETWEEN MASTER AND SLAVE IS _______”?

Jefferson naively believed in the morality of the enlightened majority.

A few decades later, Tocqueville recognized the TYRANNY of the [indoctrinated] majority.

And the experiment wobbles along...
