Roman Catholic churches may continue sponsoring Boy Scout troops despite a recent policy change that permits gay troop leaders, Archbishop of New Orleans Gregory Aymond says. His statement echoes one issued Monday by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
The committee expressed concern that the Boy Scouts of America organization does not state "sexual behavior should be reserved to a husband and a wife in marriage." But they said scouting will continue to serve an important role for Catholic youth.
In the policy change, the Boy Scouts of America's National Executive Board decided Monday to allow gay trooper leaders. But it still gives troop sponsors, many of them churches, the authority to choose leaders according to their religious beliefs.

The Catholic Church is where my faith was born.
The Faith of the people in the Church is what I am after, forget the evolving institution and its errors.

I don’t think this is a wise decision. After the pedophile scandal in the Catholic Church, I am really surprised that they would put themselves at risk again.
I am a Catholic. The way the Church hierarchy is operating these day I am reminded of the Sanhedrin of Christ’s time.
Well they haven’t ousted the abortion-loving, contracepting, man-hating, lesbian Girl Scouts so why would the Boy Scouts be any different?
