Why don’t the ‘universalists’ just come out and admit what they are espousing is good ol’ Gnosis?
Fr. Al Kimel’s promotion of universalism has been very sharply criticized within the Church. It is pretty obviously contrary to the condemnations of the 5th Ecumenical Synod. On a side note, I believe there are some very personal reasons that involve his family for why he has embraced this heresy.
Actually, the anathemas of the 5th council are *not* at all clear. In fact, they were written after the council.
The Fact that Fr. Aidan has personal motivations (yes, I know the details) does not invalidate his arguments.
You give the impression that he is alone in his convictions. He is not. I know of other very well known priests who share that position or come very close to it.
