Asking for Mary's intercession is not asking Mary for salvation. No matter how many times you say it, it not what the Catholic Church teaches.
It's kind of like when you were a kid and you wanted to do something special but you knew dad would say "NO." You might have by passed dad and gone directly to mom to ask dad for you. Mom would know just how to bring it up and just the right words to say to "maybe" get the answer you want. It might not have always worked, but mom had the best shot at getting the positive result. And as for a son, can he refuse his mother when she asks him to do something?
