Cruz's strong Zionism combined with traditional views on social issues is a 'natural fit' for Orthodox Jews in the U.S.
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, a hardline conservative and practicing Southern Baptist, is carving out a niche with Orthodox Jews a "potentially winnable slice of an otherwise deeply Democratic demographic," Politico website reports.
I share a great many values with the Jewish community and the Orthodox community, Cruz told Politico in a phone interview. Chief among them is a passionate dedication to strengthening our friendship and alliance with the nation of Israel.
Combing a strong Zionist approach with traditional views on social issues is "a dynamic that makes Cruz a natural fit" for Orthodox Jews, Politico writes.
Senator Cruz started earlier than everyone else, so hes probably had more contact in the community than anyone else, said Phil Rosen, a New York lawyer who was a major fund raiser for Mitt Romney....

This is excellent! Inroads into the Jewish vote would be quite a coup for Cruz.
Perhaps this will demonstrate to the weak kneed in his party that they do not have to be afraid to take a strong, unapologetic principled conservative approach.
On the other hand, perhaps not.
RE: winning American Orthodox hearts
Ahh, but are their numbers large enough to matter in 2016?
Let’s face it. Apart from Cruz we don’t have anyone with enough courage to take that kind of stand,
Lately, I’ve been saying...”My heart is with Cruz but my head is with Walker”.
Cruz is great and matches my political views more than any other candidate. But he’s a freshman with a sparse record as a Senator. Naturally, that’s not his fault since he hasn’t been a senator long enough to attain a significant record of accomplishments.
Walker, OTOH, has a substantive record of accomplishments as a governor and would have, IMO, a greater chance of gaining enough votes to win. That’s why I think, politically, he would be a better choice for Pres.
I would love to see a Walker/Cruz ticket.
It may not be all about just votes, but $$ and chatter.
But the question is what specific duty or function of the presidency would Cruz be unable to accomplish that Walker could, based on the differences you describe?
I say none. In fact, his language and his actions show him to be more conservative than Walker.
I agree. My point is that just focusing on the ability to get votes Walker, being a governor and having a significant record of accomplishments, (especially compared to the Hildabeast) would be better at the top of the ticket.
The main idea is to WIN.
Won’t help in overwhelmingly Democratic New York but it could make a difference in states like Florida and Pennsylvania where there are big blocs of Jewish voters in south Florida and in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Florida and Pennsylvania will be heavily contested states and a few thousand extra votes from Jewish voters for Cruz might be crucial.
If we unite behind Cruz, he will win.
[Walker, OTOH, has a substantive record of accomplishments as a governor]
We need a PRESIDENT CRUZ who will stand for traditional values. Walker’s silence on the Indiana on the religious freedom in the workplace bill was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
Silence is golden except when you need to make a stand.
I stand with TED CRUZ!

The sooner the betterer.
Amen
All brought to the citizens of Wisconsin because of the GOP-controlled legislature that actually CREATED the bills that gave Walker the Opportunity to SIGN them.
Give the credit where the credit is due!
But , but, but how come Rand Paul isn’t a natural fit for orthodox Jews here in America ? Or his papa ?
