Almost exactly a year ago, Robert Mickens was suspended from his post as Vatican correspondent for the London Tablet, after he showed his contempt for Pope Benedict XVI with a Facebook comment that he was looking forward to the Rats funeral. Usually Mickens was more discreet, but that crude comment tells you what you need to know about his perspective.
Having subsequently left The Tablet, Mickens now writes for Global Pulse, a web site that views Catholic affairs from a strongly progressive slant. There he has posted another revealing comment, this time on the decision by Scottish Cardinal Keith OBrien to renounce his privileges in the aftermath of a homosexual scandal.
In a quick series of one-sentence paragraphs that convey a staccato effect, to capture the readers attention, Mickens writes about the question of homosexuality:
For far too long this has been the elephant in the rectory parlor.
I know.
And a lot of other people also know that Keith O'Brien is not the only cardinal that has been sexually active during his priesthood.
And he is not the only one that has been sexually involved with other men.
Might some cardinals perceive that passage as a veiled threat? Mickens indicates clearly that he knowsnotice the verb; he doesnt suspectof homosexual activity by at least one other cardinal. If he knows, then its possible he will tell. And a lot of other people also know, he adds, helpfully. If many people know, isnt it just a matter of time before someone outs a cardinal?
Maybe not. Back in 2003, at the peak of American media coverage of the sex-abuse scandal, several outlets reported about threats by homosexual activists to identify an American cardinal with a history of homosexual activity. That threat was never carried out. Perhaps reporters realized that the story...........

Leftist blackmail - even if the cardinal in question is innocent, it matters not.
“It’s not the facts of the case, it’s the seriousness of the charge...”
Shocked you would throw out this crap, with the link. You hurt the Church and Jesus Christ, and doing no good at all.
Odd that those who support the rump-rangers are the ones who extort the Cardinals. Let’s not speak of Academe, however.
And it’s so easy to make a false charge. All you need is a couple of GLAAD activists who’ll lawyer up and then tell the press, “Yeah, this priest schtupped us when we were in high school.”
Likewise, the havoc wrought in seminaries by homosexual infiltration has also been well documented (see "Goodbye Good Men").
All of this is good!! Not the scandals but their exposure. The Church must be purified and that requires exposure of the corruption which has weakened and sickened it. It requires shining a bright light on the roaches which have infested the priesthood, including those who have climbed in the hierarchy. This is not "crap". Ignoring the issue and pretending everything is hunky dory just won't fly.
Yea better just to pay people off and pretend that all is good in your church ..THAT would be following tradition right?

Better to conceal the perverts so they can continue to do their dirty work in the shadows? That's really worked out well for the Church, hasn't it? /S
