C.S. Lewis put it quite well. I will paraphrase below.

Either you believe that Christ was who he said he was--or you have to believe that he was a demon or perhaps a raving lunatic. There is no middle ground. Let's cut the crap about Christ being "just a great teacher."

Actually, there is another option: he was a politician who really believed he could be the next King of Israel. That he could unite the Jews and rally them to free themselves of Roman rule.
