Yet in terms of making an argument you restate as a fact—”Some sins will be atoned in the life to come before our entrance to the banquet”—what the author argues is unbelief in the finished work of Christ.

I did quote Scripture for my position in Matt 12:32. It wasn't just my own opinion.

Salvation is free and easy...

Tell that to the martyrs...

... because God offers it for free and delights in the finished work of His Son.

Yet we are the Body of Christ and our work is not finished. It could be that another answer is needed.

Being a "martyr" saves no one ...One is a marytr for something one believes.. not because one is saved

Salvation—not our walk—is free and easy, e.g...

“Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55)

and again

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. (Rev. 22)

I know there are other aspects to living out our salvation in history. The martyrs are precious and, really, privileged! Martyrdom or earthly distress does nothing to mitigate the free gift of God in Christ Jesus. That’s available to “all who call on the name of the Lord”. No merit or earning involved.

I did quote Scripture for my position in Matt 12:32. It wasn't just my own opinion.

And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. (Matthew 12:32)

And which simply fails to teach purgatory, as "the world to come" only speaks of the resurrection, not some postmortem world that is absent from Scripture, but which RCs must invent as a consequence of their soteriological errors, and attempt to extrapolate support from ambigous texts for.

But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: (Luke 20:35)

But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. (Mark 10:30)

For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. (Hebrews 2:5)

And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, (Hebrews 6:5)

Got any more?

Yes, salvation is free and easy.

Nobody ever attained salvation by dying for their *faith*.
