To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the New Mass and the kickoff of the Year of Mercy, Pope Francis and Cardinal Kasper declare war on the Traditional Latin Mass.
bump for later
I call bs. No one has said anything about abrogating the TLM. But the Remnant can’t distinguish between the mass and the nuttiness of cultus around it. I will speak from experience: people who believe in geo-centrism, folks who condemn john Paul ii, people who think the church is in a state of emergency, people who believe we should dress like Mrs. cleaver, etc.
Love the mass, wish the nuts would go somewhere else. Fortunately our good FSSP priest pops the blisters regularly.
I forgot to mention the ambient clericalism that comes with the practices around the TLM. Father is not God. Yes, he is probably holier than you and me. but that isn’t grounds for him acting like a prince, right?
Ever heard the term, “alter Christus”?
Neither has The Remnant, so why imply otherwise?
The effect of the eccentric behavior of a small minority of traditionalists is benign in comparison to the perniciousness of the Novus Ordo cultus (loss of belief in the Real Presence, widespread loss of a sense of the Sacred, the notion that God exists to serve man rather than man to serve God...). Assisi was a betrayal of Jesus Christ; a scandalous insult to God. The heretical fruits of Assisi have been indifferentism and relativism.
Love the mass, wish the nuts would go somewhere else.
Wouldn't it be more charitable to assume that those who behave eccentrically are striving to serve God to the best of their ability rather than refer to them as nuts? People who attend the Latin Mass because they love the atmosphere while mocking others who also attend the Latin Mass are really missing the point.
What practices are you referring to? Is it your intent to criticize the role of the priest or is it to mock the faithful who attend the Mass?
Personally I have never met a priest who acts "like a prince" nor anyone who mistakes a priest for God. I have, however, encountered priests who deliberately alter the prayers of the Novus Ordo Missae and who promote heterodoxy from the pulpit.
I do not see this behaviour in either TLM community I frequent.
