Problem is, we cannot “elevate our own concept of God” one iota.
We have to accept God where He deigns to meet us and permit Him to grow us in His knowledge and love, accepting the humiliation of our pride which results from His grace that forgives even what we though unforgivable. Wrangles about orthodoxy often bespeak lazy Christians who want to pat themselves on the back about what they know about God, rather than share genuine godliness with the world.

The Word of God warns us numerous times about vain imaginations.
