Appears to be an ecumenical gesture which exceeds reasonable limits (since we now have a Church Doctor who, unlike the other Church doctors in this very exclusive club, was never even in communion with the Church) and an attempt (along with stealing books) to undermine defenders of doctrine in advance of the synod. If Kasper were in charge of vetting candidates, Gregory would pass his litmus tests with flying colors. Gregory was not in communion with Rome, which will certainly appeal to the "we are church" ecumaniacs, and the Armenian Church permits divorce and remarriage in the case of adultery and the ordination of female deacons, which will delight liberals and feminists who falsely believe that the Deposit of Faith can be modified to accommodate worldly considerations. The Kasperian Cabal can now point to a "Doctor of the Church" from a tradition with similar practices regarding divorce and remarriage to those endorsed by Kasper.

Oriental Orthodox Church[edit] The Oriental Orthodox Church is more severe than the Eastern Orthodox Church in terms of divorce and adopts an intermediate position between Rome and Constantinople, allowing it only in the case of adultery. This position is valid for both Copts and Armenians [12][13]
